OMNIVERS:

Here We Hum

Workshop with Ritika Ganguly and Sofía Padilla

May 11, 2024, 11 am-1 pm

Red Eye Theater

2213 Snelling Ave | Minneapolis, MN 55404

We will gather around the simple and beautiful act of humming together. Then we'll feel it in our fingers in the sand. No prior singing or sand drawing experience is required.

We will have the house lights on to guide us in. Lights will be dimmed once the activity begins. We will do accommodations check-in when we meet and greet.

Free, no advance reservation required!

Ritika Ganguly is a Minneapolis-based transdisciplinary artist and entrepreneur, born and raised in New Delhi, India. As a voice yoga coach, she has led collaborative humming in harmony sessions in the sweet sands of Oaxaca (Mexico), Santa Fe (New Mexico), Bangalore (India), Ely (Northern Minnesota), and the Twin Cities. She trains in the field with Baul (Bengali folk) musicians, and brings an intuitive and audiative approach to music composition. She is a 2021 McKnight Composer Fellow, and a lover of loose, long-leaf tea.

Sofía Padilla is a Mexican Theater Artist, Director, Designer and Puppeteer who has participated in over fifty national and international theater productions. This event is part of Ritika’s practice, which is being supported through the OMNIVERS program from 2023-2025. OMNIVERS is a flexible container in which Red Eye supports the process of BIPOC artists or collectives working in live performance, taking a shape determined by those artists or collectives.

Ritika is a recipient of the FY23 Arts Impact for Individuals Grant. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
