To Sing the World WIthin
You are invited to come play with and encounter yourself in a new way. Come with curiosity. We will notice and engage the state and experience held in our bodies. We will sound, notice, and journal our bodies’ flows, textures, and silences. We will practice listening and allowing the stories in our bodies to have voice. We will welcome our bodies into movement as they request it. This process can uproot personal histories and emotions. We will use journaling to record any specific stories / detailes that emerge. We will learn some gentle ways to hold ourselves and each other in discomfort. Come if you are able to extend grace and room for each person to be in their own experience, and can commit to tending your own. Please wear comfortable clothes, bring a water bottle, and a journal.

About the Artists
Mankwe Ndosi
Mankwe Ndosi tends sonic textures and connections between stories of the people and the land. She is a Minneapolis-based vocal improviser and composer whose work draws from Black women’s ritual performance tradition, African Diasporic Creative Music, Hip hop, Afro-indigenous sound traditions, and liberation singing. She focuses on embodied practice, sound, plant medicine, and the power of connection. Mankwe is a member of Chicago’s Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), and leads Body Memori experiences of sound and sense. Her unique sound blends genre-stretching vocal techniques with message and magic.
