Focus: ASL and Sensory-Friendly Integration
The Practice of Access Workshops are a series of workshops focused on attending to and integrating access elements into creative projects for the purpose of engagement of D/deaf, Blind, Low Vision, disabled and neurodivergent communities. Access elements to be “practiced” include: American Sign Language integration, and shaping sensory-friendly environments. Rooted in Disability Justice, the “practicing” affirms accessibility as an essential part of our culture. The Practice of Access is an invitation to move beyond the logistics; offering tangible tools for engaging these communities thoughtfully, and with care.
Facilitated by Barak adé Soleil, Disability identified and neurodiverse noted Accessibility Consultant with over 15 years of experience working with and within disability, D/deaf and neurodivergent communities globally. Barak is the founder of Yearly Emerging Practices and Director of Emerging Curators Institute. Barak will be joined by BIPOC D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent consultants offering insights within the workshop.
Should you wish to participate and have particular access needs, please note this in your submission form or email access@emergingcurators.org.
