This is it! As 2021 comes to a close, Red Eye opens a new chapter as we begin hosting artists and events in our new space. Red Eye’s next long-term home is located in the Focus Arts building, on Dakota land in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. We invite everyone in the Red Eye community—artists, audience members, neighbors, friends, supporters, and all lovers of contemporary performance—to WARM the SPACE. 

It’s a rare and special moment to witness the first public performances in a room that is en route to becoming a theater. Creation will happen while the space is still relatively raw, and we will continue to make improvements through the conclusion of our capital campaign. 

We are on the verge of all the action, sound, text, light, movement that is yet to coalesce here! Yet this moment rests on so much that has come before: labor, luck, privilege, dispossession, interdependence, and creative visioning of all kinds. And so much is still yet to come, as we work to build out this space for our community of artists and contemporary performance enthusiasts.

We ask you to gather with us, because this space is truly for all of us. Help us bring it to life with good energy and well-wishes so that we can dream and build this artistic home together. 

For this occasion, we offer: a densely packed 10-minute experience, which will repeat in small groups for covid safety. This is a moment of initiation, gratitude, acknowledgment, offering, and perhaps surprise. We invite guests to dress up: fancy, wacky, referential, or unique. We also invite contributions to the capital campaign that supports the build-out, operation, and creative manifestation of the new space.

We are currently gathering support for the basic furnishings that will be needed as we begin hosting rehearsals, performances, and other kinds of events in the new space. This includes things like audience seating; mirrors, tables, chairs, and clothing racks for the dressing room; upgraded lighting/sound equipment; and more.
